New 2009 Travel Requirements On June 1, 2009 the U.S. Travel requirements are changing. The U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. All persons traveling by air outside of the U.S. will be required to present a passport.
The City of Stanwood is an acceptance agency for the U.S. Passport Services. You can apply for a passport Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm. For additional information on applying for a passport, visit www.travel.state.gov . Passport Processing Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. To apply for a passport you will need to bring documentation of citizenship and identity. All documents must be originals and are submitted with the application. They will be returned with your passport. For children under 16, both parents must be present. You will need the following: Proof of Citizenship: (one of the following): Certified Birth Certificate Previous US Passport; Naturalization Certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad; or Certificate of Citizenship. Proof of Identity: (one of the following) Previous US Passport; Certificate of Citizenship; Naturalization Certificate; Current & valid driver's license; or current military, government ID. Two Passport Photos These must be identical 2" x 2" color photos. The photos must meet very specific requirements, so we recommend having them done professionally. Photos can be taken at most photo finishing facilities and the local copy centers. The Application Fee: Two separate payments are required. The application fee must be a check or money order made payable to US Department of State. This is submitted with each passport application. The processing fee can be cash, check or money order made payable to the City of Stanwood. (Sorry, no credit cards). For applicants 16 and over: $110.00 check or money order payable to U.S. Department of State; $25.00 to City of Stanwood. For applicants under 16: $80.00 check or money order payable to U.S. Department of State; $25.00 to City of Stanwood.
