Planning Commission Members Back

The Planning Commission advises the City Council in matters concerning comprehensive land use and development of the city. The Commission holds public meetings and public hearings.

 

Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Stanwood Fire Station, located at 8117 267th Street NW, Stanwood.

 

Pursuant to the Stanwood Municipal Code, the Planning Commission comprises a maximum of seven members. At least five members of the Commission shall reside within the corporate limits or the Urban Growth Area of the City limits (SMC 17.80.010)

 

The term of office is five years and Commissioners may be re-appointed by the Mayor for an additional five years subject to City Council approval.

Jeff Laycock
Planning Commission position 2

 Term:  April 12, 2010 – December 31, 2012

 

Jeff Laycock was born and raised in Marysville, Washington.  He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Washington State University in 2002.  He was employed as an engineer with RH2 Engineering in Port Orchard from 2003 to 2007 before relocating back to Snohomish County.  Jeff and his wife, Diana, moved to Stanwood in 2008.  He currently works as a project engineer for the City of Marysville.  Jeff and Diana were excited to move to Stanwood to be part of a community where they could raise a family.  Shortly after moving to Stanwood, their first son, Kale, was born.

  


Dave Eldridge

Dave Eldridge was born and raised in Idaho. He came to Stanwood in 1966, and taught at Lincoln Jr. High School and Stanwood Middle School for 30 years. Dave is a member of the Stanwood Historical Society, Snohomish County Dahlia Society, Federation of Northwest Dahlia Growers, and American Dahlia Society. 

 


Chaim Bezalel

Term:  May 13, 2010 – December 31, 2012

Chaim Bezalel was born in New York City and grew up in Dobbs Ferry, NY. In 1971 he received a B.S. in Radio, TV, and Film from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  In 1988 he moved to Israel and established Bezalel-Levy Editions which published his and his wife's work in various media. He has published two books which include his photography. He currently works with photography, film, and music in mixed media. He also has developed a workshop called "Telling Your Story Through Art" which he leads at Josephine Sunset Retirement home in Stanwood. He and his wife own Stanwood House, which is a studio, gallery, and teaching center for art located in downtown Stanwood.

 


Elizabeth Callaghan

Elizabeth is recent member of the Stanwood community, having moved from Marysville in 2009. She was born in Michigan, but has lived most of her life in Washington. She earned an AA from Central Christian College in McPherson, KS and a BA in History from Seattle Pacific University where she also received her Elementary Education Certificate.

Roger Haskin
Planning Commission position 7

 

Term: January 1, 2006 - December 31, 2010

 

Roger Haskin has lived in Stanwood for 11 years with his wife and four children. He was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York; was in the Army for seven years; and served in the first Gulf War. He has worked in retail for 12 years and is currently a store manager for OfficeMax in Bellingham. He and his wife are very active in their church, where Roger serves as the chairman of the property and Conference Ministry Directors for the Bellingham area. He also worked with Youth for Christ of Stanwood for three years as the Youth Guidance Director of The Spot.

The 43.6 acre park includes ballfields, a Skateboard Park and a playfield.
